This tool works out what one dose costs, and what it costs per day and per month, so you can compare two products fairly. Enter the price, how many servings the container holds, and how many servings you take a day.

How this works

The core figure is a simple division:

Cost per serving = price ÷ servings per container

If you add servings per day, the tool also gives cost per day (cost per serving × servings per day) and cost per month (cost per day × 30). For example, a container priced at 24.99 with 60 servings costs about 0.42 per serving. At 2 servings a day, that is about 0.83 per day and about 25 per month.

Understanding your result

Cost per dose is the fair way to compare two supplements, because it removes the effect of bottle size and serving count. A large, cheap-looking bottle with a small serving count can cost more per dose than a smaller one. When you compare products, also check that a "serving" delivers the same amount of the active ingredient in each, since one product's serving may contain more than another's.

• A serving in one product may not match a serving in another. Check the active ingredient amount per serving before comparing.
• The monthly figure uses a 30 day month as a round estimate.

How this is calculated

This tool uses basic arithmetic only: price divided by servings, then multiplied by daily servings and by 30 for the monthly figure. There is no external data involved, so the result is exact for the numbers you enter.
